i just love your quote above…...exquisite work/perfect title/gorgeous concept!!!!
i cherish your work so much Mui-Ling..the fact that you are the only person
here on RB doing anything like this is wonderful in itself…everything you do
is well thought out and planned and i love your thought process….when you
tackle something you think of all the details and angles…..
this one is very very special..little tiny gold and silver lovebirds…what could be
more beautiful….i think these would be lovely for Valentine’s day….and also
very special for Engagements and Weddings – if there are any Groups on RB
they might fit well into these categories also!!
Wonderful, wonderful, inspiring art!!
Mui-Ling Teh replied
That is a great idea Karin; thanks for the suggestion! I am a part of the ‘Inspiring Greeting Cards’ group, though whatever I submit there has to have text. I typically don’t like putting text on my work as I feel they loose their artistic quality; but I may just post them when the occasion come and take them down after. Glad you like this and appreciate you comments! Hugs

i like how you’ve cropped the image. It must be a feat to shoot them and model them at the same instant!
Mui-Ling Teh replied
For sure! Especially this time having both hands in there. I used the timer on my camera, but it was hard to keep my hands still without dropping the birds, as I was only holding the very end of their tails. You’ve made me recall my experience of when I was shooting ‘Born from the Hand’ my first piece among my miniature origami. People’s initial reaction when seeing that was the size of the crane; and I told them I had a harder time with the photography since I was both the photographer and the hand model! I feel you understand well the challenge of the process; thank you.

There they are… ahhhhhhhhhh thanks.. I am relieved.. I want to be the one to take a vidio of you at play.. this work is so very telling of your spirit.. I want you on my side! Your ability to work with such a small perspective to make such a statement would be how I see solving the worlds problems.. start very very smalll and watch how the world expands around it! Bravo you three!
Mui-Ling Teh replied
Perhaps I could first do a video folding a 6×6mm crane. The first time you suggested doing a video was after I posted my 3×3mm crane, and that is much more difficult both to fold and to record (I was folding that one under a magnifying glass). If I can find the time I would like to record that one too because I also think it will be interesting. But for now I still have two more origami shots I want to do; hopefully no one is tired of these things yet :P

Amazing Origami! How on earth do you make them so small??
Mui-Ling Teh replied
Thank you Gail. I was actually close to your age when I first started doing miniature origami; though back then (I was 10 or 11) I didn’t do anything small as I do now (at least not as nicely :P). I use tweezers and needles to fold my little origami. For these birds and the crane in Born from the Hand I didn’t require them as much as they were not that small; only to do small folds like beaks. When the paper is as small as 6×6mm I use tweezers, and sometimes needles, all the way through. For my Born from the Cell I pretty much had to use needles all the way through as shown in the photo next to your comment. I’m glad you like this; thanks for the fav.
