Winter winds blow fiercely across the farms expanse. Yet, the bird beaten leftovers hang on to the old apple tree’s knotty branches.

There are a few things that I love about this capture: the history of this one tree which once stood with nearly 100 in an apple orchard; the colors of the bark on this beloved tree and the fruit it produces; the manner in which God fashioned it’s branches, crossing over one another with sometimes 90 degree angle bends, that they don’t always break under the pressures they face; the pure white snow that covers the layer of ice atop the center branch; and the light blue sky with thin cloud cover supporting the scene.

I am struck by who God is when I look at this photograph and ponder it. He is Eternal, He always was, always is and always will be. While the seasons change, God is never-changing. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He fashions us with even more care than He has this old apple tree. Sometimes we have 90 degrees (or more) bends in the journey we’re on in this life, but He promises to never give us more than we can handle. God washes us white as snow when we allow Him to. Just as the apples hang on to the branches for their dear lives, He is the steadfast Branch that I am ever blessed to cling to. Thank you Jesus for holding on to even me – I am eternally grateful to You.
