A fish coming up for air might have this view if swimming on the Great Neva River, whose waters are full of ships in port, barges heading to and fro and docks to load freight destined for far off places. On occasion the fish may also see beautiful cruise ships wandering in from the Baltic Sea via the Gulf of Finland. Famous draw bridges are open between 1 and 5 in the morning, taking shifts to allow for both the movement of water borne vessels and vehicular traffic that desires to ebb and flow from Vasilevsky Island.
