I was struck by the diagonal lines of red, white and black that were painted on this gate at Trubetskoy Bastion Prison at Peter and Paul’s Fortress.

This political prison held people like Maxim Gorky (a Russian and Soviet author, a founder of the Socialist Realism literary method and a political activist) and Dostoevsky (a Russian writer of novels, short stories and essays).

Taken in St. Petersburg, Russia.
