Mount St. Helens blew her top in 1980. My husband was playing outside in the ash that laid 3 inches deep in his yard. That was, until everyone was warned to go indoors. I did not see this mountain before the eruption. This image captured her in the present day after everything was made new. I think everything about it is beautiful – including her story. If only her rocks could truly speak I wonder what story they’d tell. One day they will cry out.

This photograph speaks to my heart reminding me that God is our restoration. If He created and restored this crater of a peak – He creates and restores us – in all of our ashy messes. Furthermore, He delights in our messy state. He truly does make beauty from ashes.

Taken from Bear Meadow (I believe) near Mount St. Helens, Washington, United States of America.

I desire to glorify God through all avenues of life and bless others in the process. Taking images of what He’s created with His hands, then sharing them – unrefined, is part of my expression.
