Mount Terry Fox is a peak in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, in Mount Terry Fox Provincial Park, a small wilderness area near Valemount,British Columbia, Canada, and adjacent to Mt. Robson Provincial Park. There is no road access to the park.
The park is named in memory of Terry Fox, a young Canadian from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. Terry lost a leg to bone cancer, but undertook to run across Canada on an artificial limb to raise funds for cancer research. He completed 3,360 miles (5,375 km) of this amazing journey, against incredible odds, before illness forced him to end his run, and he died on June 28, 1981. Since then, his efforts have been honoured throughout Canada and many countries of the world, where annual runs are held to further the cause of cancer research. The mountain is a fitting memorial to his determination and courage. The park was officially dedicated by the family of Terry Fox and the people of British Columbia on September 22, 1981.
