A ruby-throat hummingbird perched on one of our feeders, having taken charge of the territory and waiting for any other to come along and be chased away or permitted to stay and drink! These little battlers are SO territorial, not only do they stake claims to trees and nesting areas but also try to take over the feeders. Of course this starts a great display of noise and aggressive behaviour, but it seems to be just a case of brow-beating rather than actual combat.
