In south-west Alberta, Canada, the vast prairies merge quite rapidly into the foothills, and then the actual ranges, of the Rocky Mountains. The transition is quite swift, much more pronounced than many other areas, and it gives a lovely view of how the landscape can change so quickly. Typically for this part of Alberta, a cattle ranch stretches out towards the hills, and abundant groves of trees suggest amply water courses. This view is on the way from Waterton to Pincher Creek.
