The Lehave River is one of the major rivers in south western Nova Scotia, Canada, flowing from the interior hills and woodlands down to the Atlantic Ocean, through the town of Bridgewater and on past small communities such as Lehave. This is where we found this cable ferry, which has been operating for many years and saves a great deal of driving if one wants to simply cross the river and go on down the coast.
The ferry operates by using a heavy cable ( see it on the right side of the photo) which runs through the boat, controlled by a winch mechanism, and out the stern and scross the river to the other dock.
