I have tried to pick my favourite of all the lakes in the chain of Canadian Rocky Mountain parks, both national and provincial, and it’s a lost cause! There are so many, and each has its special features and beauty. Yet I find it hard to imagine anything more lovely than looking down on Waterton Lake in south-west Alberta, Canada. The deepest lake in the park chain,it
stretches south between the ridges of the Rockies until it merges with Glacier National Park in Montana, USA. Together, they form the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, a World Heritage Site.
Except for the small town-site at the right, the park is a pristine wilderness of lakes, mountains, forests and everything that showcases nature at its finest.
