The north shore of Nova Scotia, Canada, borders on Northumberland Strait, which separates Nova Scotia from Prince Edward Island. The highway which traverses this area is Route 6, otherwise known as the “Sunrise Trail”, because of the coastline facing in a general north-easterly direction. The road runs from Pictou to Amherst, and along the way are many lovely beaches, warm water, and numerous small villages, most of them devoted to fishing. A typical one is Toney River, with it’s small protected harbour and array of lobster boats.
