The Glooscap Trail is actually part of Highway 2 which goes from Halifax, Nova Scotia to the New Brunswick border and beyond. The section which winds along the shores of the Bay of Fundy and Minas Basin is called the Glooscap Trail in honour of the great God/Chief of the Micmac native peoples. His home was reputed to be on top of Cape Blomidon and the Bay and countryside were made by his hand. The water is part of Minas Basin, and in the distance you can see several of the Five Islands which form a prominent feature of this shoreline, very popular with campers in the summertime.
