Old Man and Children by Jann Ashworth
Clear

This pencil rendition was done in 1980, a year after graduating from Algonquin College in Ottawa, Canada. It was a very slow and painstaking process. At that time I wanted to understand and control the full range of values that could be achieved with graphite. It wasn’t until 15 years later that I came to understand the psychological reasons behind this particular composition. In summary, this picture gave me a great feeling of safety. It was done in Bainbridge board and assorted graphite pencils.
