Zack is a local sandstone carver in Nova Scotia, Canada, whom we met on the Halifax boardwalk while on vacation in 2007. He carves various motifs such as boats, fisherman and other nautical themes and has been doing it for many years.

I was captivated by his lack of pretension, lovely beard and gentle manner. His use of simple carving tools and his entire art studio being contained in his backpack left me wishing for such a satisfying and unencumbered lifestyle.
