Part of the ruined monastery of Moni Katoliko, Akrotiri Penninsula, Crete, Greece. This was probably the first Christian monastery built at the re-Christianisation of Crete by John the Hermit around 1000AD. The Road to nowhere was actually part of the defences, monks gathered on the ‘road’ to drop bricks on to the pirate invaders coming up the gorge from the sea landing.
