Just sold the original of "367 High St" thanks to RedBubble! by lynzart

Had to share this story with you guys….. Checked my hotmail this morning and discovered a message from a gentleman in Tauranga, NZ asking the best way to purchase “367 High St”?

& I thought “where did THAT come from?” The original of this painting is hanging in my hallway at home in Dunedin NZ, I don’t have it up for sale on my blog or anywhere else for that matter, so how did someone in Tauranga find it? Well I duly replied, all professional-like with details about the original, a purchase price, request for a delivery address etc, and then asked about where this person had seen the painting.

This was the reply:
“Interesting story…I was doing some research for my step mum yesterday as whilst she’s born and breed Australian, her forebear was one Walton Shennan who had “367” designed by renowned Dunedin architect Robert Lawson (http://www.dnzb.govt.nz/DNZB/altessayBody.asp?essayID=2L5). I googled 367 and I stumbled on this link – http://www.redbubble.com/products/configure/640... – Jan is very proud of her new found “kiwi link” so I think she will appreciate the gift so hence the purchase.
Just need to get it to Sydney now without damaging the same in transit!"

Needless to say, I am ecstatic!! I sold this painting for $300, the money is already in my account and is much needed to go towards car repairs I was slammed with yesterday. Has completely made my day!

Thank you so much RedBubble, you do a great job!!

Signed: one very happy artist!

Congratulations on that! Was that your first sale?
I’m in a “made-my-day” mood myself, since someone ordered 3 painted baby portraits and a pencilled potrait with 3 people on it today!
I can’t wait untill i get the photo’s and i can make some more photo’s of them so that i can start work. My first commission ever!

Hey thanks Freya, very sweet of you! No not my first sale, but certainly my first in several months, hence the excitement :). Plus I just love it when it comes out of the blue like that. Congrats on getting your first commission job – I’d love one of those! I really like doing pencil portriats too, specially of babies. Hope yours goes well :)
