Canon Powershot A400; slight edit in picnik
As I was looking through my grandmother’s things I, I was struck by how many pink things she had. I did not see her wear pink very often, though she did want to be buried in her favorite dress which was pink.
I got the idea to do a still life collage (don’t know if this the right word). I am going to do a small series of these because there were so many beautiful things and it took up over half of the kitchen table to hold it all!
Included in this is her high school picture from the 1930’s; a piece of her costume jewelry; a compact with a soft pink rouge and powder that looked like it had never been used; lace; a couple of her scarves; a page of her stationary and a few petals from her funeral flowers.
Of all the pictures I took I think this is my favorite, though I love them all very much. I hope you enjoy the beauty of my grandma’s things and it gives you a little window into who she was as a person.
An aside note: I had a thought that this would be a wonderful service to offer grieving families. I may go to the funeral home and let them know if there is anyone who would be interested in a collage photo of their loved ones belongings, I would be pleased to do that.
I may take this one as a sample of what it could look like. If I hadn’t been able to do this myself, I would love to have had someone do a collage for me. My guess is most people would not even think of it and it could be a great side business. Just a thought for you photographers and artists out there.
