First attempt at an intentional high key image. Taken with Canon T2i/550d and 100mm L lens; f: 29, 1.65s, ISO 100. Orchids Only group cover image for “orchids with white background” challenge, 1-1-2013.

I’m a self taught photographer who enjoys macro photography, especially wildflowers and other flora and fauna seen in nature. I also enjoy photographing refractions and reflections from rain and water.

    I’d say that is an excellent attempt! How did you manage the perfectly white backgound? I think I like the orchids best this way i.e. instead of with a black background.

  • Glad you like it Bette, thanks so much. I did this by placing the orchid in front of a window which had been shielded by a piece of translucent white plastic, It was a cloudy but a light winter’s day. I tried numerous exposures…didn’t like the ones that were way overexposed, nor the ones perfectly exposed.
