Created this as part of the Superheroes Alphabet Project for the group International Superheroes of Drawing, Illustration and World Domination. The art will be part of a children’s alphabet series, each letter created by a different artist. Obviously this is for the letter Z.

Original artwork measures about 13 × 18 inches, mixed media and collage on brown Canson paper. Mixed media includes liquid copper leaf, liquid gold leaf, oil pastels and colored pencils. The Z is a cutout from some textured cream decorative paper.

Having a great love animals, fairytales, and world mythology, Pennsylvania artist Lynnette Shelley fuses these influences into her strikingly unique illustrations. Her artwork strikes a primal chord in many viewers, with almost Jungian associations to the colors and shapes. Her artworks have been likened to images from an undiscovered ancient civilization or culture.

  • are you going to make Ophelia with an Owl? I assume you are going to do something with an Owl. Or maybe you could have an Orangutan, an Owl and an Octopus all hanging out together lol.
