Sixth artwork in my new Wonderland series, based off of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”

“`Well!’ thought Alice to herself, `after such a fall as this, I shall think nothing of tumbling down stairs! How brave they’ll all think me at home! Why, I wouldn’t say anything about it, even if I fell off the top of the house!’ (Which was very likely true.) – “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”

Original artwork measures approx. 12.5 × 19″ and was created with oil pastels, colored pencils, metaliic silver pens, and marker. This is a scan of the image, so you can’t see the silver highlights on this piece (they look gray in the scan) through Alice’s hair and dress.

Having a great love animals, fairytales, and world mythology, Pennsylvania artist Lynnette Shelley fuses these influences into her strikingly unique illustrations. Her artwork strikes a primal chord in many viewers, with almost Jungian associations to the colors and shapes. Her artworks have been likened to images from an undiscovered ancient civilization or culture.

There she is! I’ve been wondering when we would she would make an appearance. Lovely! I particulary like the dreamy sleepy blues and soulful silvers of Alice, surrounded by the bright green and gold of the transformative rabbit hole. Splendid work, as usual!

    :) wishing you laughter

  • Yes I know, I put off drawing her for a while. Thank you.

This piece really looks lovely matted… I also like the green of her eyes. It connects her to the world around her… giving the sense of “We create the world with our thoughts”

  • We do indeed! Thanks

Wonderful composition. She truly looks like she is falling through some trippy rabbit hole. Love the colors, even if it isn’t the same as in person.

  • Thanks. I had fun working on this
