Icon I: The Ram
Part of a new ICON series which takes ideas from religious iconography, portraiture and art nouveau and mixes it with the artist’s love of animals, abstraction and stylized imagery. The results are both mystical and vibrant.
ICON I depicts a ram (Aries). Original artwork measures 11×15” and is created with mixed media (oil pastels, colored pencils, art pens, metallic paint pens) and embellished with colored foil on blue watercolor paper.

Lynnette I am fond of blues and greems together…great combination (I like peacock feathers and bluebell woods). This has a mosaic feel to it, Greek even. Lovely mix of shapes and forms. A beautiful Aries. ~ Anni ;)

Ah yes, the color schemes again. The Klimtesque additions of gold highlights and very interesting textural strokes. I put gold in some of my pieces and really like what it can do to surrounding colors. I dig this. Coooool. RVG

powerful work Lynette…oh yer…the Ram stood out!...believe it or not i’m yes you guessed it an Aries….the pattern work is strong and use of colour and mix media works…I could definetely see this in an Astronomy guide…look forward to seeing more of your creations

Thanks Matty. I had fun making it. Love the curly horns on rams. On my “to do” list I have a bunch of astrology related works as well as some tarot deck works. I’m going to finish up my current ICON series then I’ll look into that.

This is a killer series. What you have created is fantastic, powerful, strong imagery. I wonder, will we see the Centaur? My partner and I are both Sagittarius and my partner is Scottish while I am German descent. The celtic and traditional blood is strong in us. I would be totally in awe to see what you might do with this star sign in your amazing style. If I could afford it, I might even buy the original from you….
