Ruthven Barracks by Lynne Morris

Photographic Prints

Available to buy on…

After the 1715 Jacobite uprising, the Government decided to tighten its grip on the Highlands by building four fortified barracks in strategic locations. Ruthven Barracks being one of them can be found just outside Kingussie in the Scottish Highlands. These barracks date back to 1721 what you see today is pretty much what was left by the departing Jacobites on 17 April 1746. Taken with canon 50d and sigma 24-70 lens

These barracks are maintained by Historic Scotland.
