Hilltop Lupines Against the Valley Floor
These beautiful lupines were growing inside of the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve. I was hiking in from the side and saw them silhouetted against the orange glow of poppies in the valley below. It made for a dramatic contrast. – Spring 2008

This is wonderful! I’m always looking for wildflowers and knew nothing about the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve. I’m also in Southern California, and now have a new destination!

OMG – I have never ‘done” drugs but this is a smack of LSD in terms of colour. WOW

Beautiful shot. I am planning on heading down there the second week of April – hope I am as lucky to get such a colorful photo.

Reports from this area are sounding good! I’m hoping to get out there soon to check it out myself! Second week of April should be about perfect!!
