Wildflower Jackpot!
California’s wildflower season was somewhat shortlived in 2008, but it was much better than in recent years. Bill and I drove about 3 hours from our home to Lake Elsinore to explore the hills there. That is where we found this incredible Wildflower Jackpot of California poppies, canterbury bells and many others! – March 2008

Oops, no…actually it is down closer to San Diego! Not quite that far south…but in the southern part of Southern California!!! I think it would be quite a looooong drive for you!!!! (But, I hear they have gorgeous flowers in the northern part of the state!!!!!)

Hey…I’m watching all the fires in our area on TV & they are constantly mentioning canyons and cities that are right near me & I’ve never even heard of them!!! And…I’ve lived here my entire life!!! Talk about needing to broaden my horizons!!! :-))))

I do hope that you are safe and that those fires come under control very soon. There were fires in the Monterey area when I was there in June and it is very frightening. I think about now, I would have a big map up with push pins keeping track of those fires. That is too scary. We have had floods up here this last week, but it is sunny for now.

Floods??? I guess that would mean rain! Wow…haven’t seen that in a while down here!!! It would be a blessing right now! :-) We’re fine where we’re at. Lots and lots of smoke in the skies around us, but for now, no flames in our area. But, way too many people have lost everything they own these past few days. It’s very sobering to see the devastation! Thanks for your concern, Marjie!!!

Thanks, Blair!!! Somehow, I missed this note when it came in! Our hills are starting to pop right now. Just a little more rain & it could be an outstanding wildflower season! I’ll be getting out as much as possible…but, my son is getting married in April, so I can’t wander too far from home!! We do have one trip planned for the end of this month, though, up to the central coast. Should be outstanding up there!!!
