HA! Your description made me laugh… truly a pity for such pretty flower. But you roused my curiosity so I checked Wikipedia who says its also called the roast-beef plant (that name’s not much better either): It is known as “stinking” because some people find the smell of its leaves unpleasant when crushed or bruised, an odour that has been described as “beefy”. Nature sure has a strange sense of humor sometimes. ;-)
