French Bay is one of a number of small bays around the village of Akaroa on New Zealand’s south island. The area has a distinct French influence reflected in many of the place names. Because if it’s beauty, many tourists are attracted to Akaroa, with the population swelling from the normal 600 inhabitants to 7,000 in the summer time (Wikipedia).
