Corio Bay Rowing Club was founded in 1873 with 25 members. A deal was struck with the local boat builder Mr C Blunt to provide the boats needed by the club for an annual subscription fee of two pounds ten shillings per member. It was also decided to vigorously encourage "Honorable Members " to pay a subscription of one guinea per annum.
The first Club House was situated on the shores of Corio Bay and appeared to have trouble making up it’s mind where it was going to settle, Corio Bay or the Barwon River. After much deliberation it was eventually decided to settle on the shores of the Barwon River. The current club house was built in 1965 and the third wing was added on in 1988.
