Pastel on Canson Mi-Teinte ‘Tex’ Paper (Cobalt Blue) – 75cm x 45cm approx.

An evening scene just as the sun has disappeared behind the hills.

Painted predominantly with Rusty Tone handmade pastels which were a recent birthday present. These pastels are manufactured by Australian RedBubbler Leigh Rust, and I found them great to use, especially for layering.

This is a similar scene to one I did for a painting which I donated to an auction awhile ago, except that version was half the size and I used Colourfix Gold paper. I think the blue paper worked better, and I am very happy with the result.

The blue was definitely the right choice for this piece – the way you’ve utilized it to bring out the textures is perfect! I’m so glad you like my pastels too

  • I LOVE your pastels Leigh. I must get a few more colours to add to those I already have. So glad you like the painting, and I did enjoy the blue paper very much. It did a lot of the work for me. The pastels and the paper complemented each other perfectly.
