Pastel on Mi Teinte ‘Tex’ paper (stone) 50cm x 35cm

A commissioned portrait of a cute little boy! I am reluctant to do portraits of children under the age of two, because they don’t really have any defining features yet. However, I was happy with the way this one turned out.

fabulous, ooh that hair is excellently done and the ear ! and the face!!

  • Thanks heaps Gini! I finished it this afternoon so he is hot off the easel, and awaiting approval from his dad! Now do you sometimes wonder why God invented ears? I do!!!! They are the weirdest shapes and VERY hard to draw!!!!!

    And all ears are different!

  • LOL! YES THEY ARE! Have you also noticed how ears keep growing as people age? Especially the ears of elderly men – they seem really HUGE!

I read about that a while back it’s not the ears but it’s the face or the flesh that shrinks ? something like that! not sure how I can research it !

ears and noses continue to grow throughout our lives…how creepy does that sound? lol….I really love the pose and the wonderful light in this Lynda…I think you did an awesome portrait here

  • It sounds extremely creepy Tahnja, but Gini has confirmed by bmail that her research indicates that cartilage type objects, like ears and noses, DO continue to grow, which is what I have always suspected! LOL! Thanks for the great comment me dear!
