I found some photos of some of my very early works, so I scanned this one. I have a collection of old willow pattern crockery. I think if I was doing this ‘today’ I would have left out a few things! It is VERY busy looking!

Splendid still life painting Lynda, which proves you can paint any subject superbly well, and by the way, this work of art is supremo just the way it is. Definitely merits an IF Award… impeccable fave. Warm hugs & XXs, Ron

Nah, the shadow is the only thing that I feel lets it down at all. The eye roams to it and is kinda absorbed by it. Does that makes sense? Those grapes and the glasses are superb Lynda….absolutely gorgeous

  • AHA! Thanks so much for this great comment Tahnja. It sure does make sense, because that shadow was one thing that really bothered me when revisiting this older work! In fact I cropped the left hand side a bit because it was so dominant. I don’t know what I was thinking to make it so dark and dreary, but it was in the days when I painted exactly what I saw. Now I would be more aware of that darkness and lighten it up a bit. Also I would leave out (or subdue) a few of those blasted grapes! I can remember doing it and vowing to myself that I would NEVER tackle willow china again! LOL! I had it all set up on a table, and by the time I finished it the grapes had gone rotten!!!! LOL!!!
