Study for 'Cold Comfort' by Lynda Robinson

Currently unavailable for purchase

Charcoal (with a few touches of red pastel) on cartridge paper.

Just added this for a challenge. It was part of the scribbling I did before I finally finished a pastel called ‘Cold Comfort’.

I am a pastel artist living in country Victoria, Australia. My subjects vary, ranging from landscapes, portraiture, animal studies, figurative, life drawing, still life and I find the challenge of painting water particularly enjoyable.

Nice work, good mood with very few colours, It makes you experience the warmth and when viewer experiences something through your work or can relate his experience, that art is SUCCESS! Transfromation from reality to abstraction. Circle is completed. You start from abstract idea and end result is also abstract = expereince.

  • Thanks for a really great comment arnene, and it is great to hear from you. I’m glad you like it because I was just beginning to wonder why I entered this rather ordinary looking ‘scribble’ into a charcoal challenge which has some amazing work in it!!!!

I agree with the above…My hat also goes off to you! Scribble indeed!! It is a little masterpiece!

  • Thank you too Sandra! XO XO. (It just looked pretty bleak and ordinary when I put it next to the others in the charcoal challenge)!

Thanks, don’t worry about challenges, they just come and go. Challenge yourself!! and you will be winner internally.

  • Oh such WORDS OF WISDOM my friend! Thank you very much – I am totally reassured!

    Very effective Lynda.
I love the way you call it scribbling!
I dare say you couldn’t produce any less than a masterpiece if you tried!

  • Fanks Simon. Hmmmmmm – maybe you should take a look in my ‘failure file’! But it’s all good fun!

Love this one. Oh yes, very much.
One of my personal favorite touches that I just stumbled into was to draw all black and white and add small touches of color. You can see that on my fledgling cartoons online (at <>). I don’t bring my cartoons to rb because I’m still working thru the beginning steps.
We’ve had this conversation before, but is the original of this one available for purchase?

  • Thanks Bruce for another lovely comment. I don’t quite understand where I can see your fledgling cartoons but I would really like to see them!! I’m sorry, but I did put this sketch into a frame, and someone was kind enough to buy it quite sometime ago!
