Pastel on canson paper

This is delving so far back into the past that I can’t remember when I did it!!! The rather badly drawn figure in the background is my husband, Peter, and there are a couple of doggies assisting him who are not visible! This was a back road which went through the property where we were living at the time, and the sheep were being moved to greener pastures.

Wow Lynda you would swear it was a scene from around these parts.Didn’t he have a motor bike at the time. I suppose it would have been a long walk and very tiring. Love this painting to bits.

  • Hiya Noelene! How great to hear from you with such a lovely comment. He did have a motorbike, and an old Toyota vehicle, but I think he was only moving them a short distance. He also had this AMAZING ‘once in lifetime’ dog called ‘Kitch’ who knew the place back to front, and could nearly move the sheep by himself! Thanks for loving this painting. I’ve done a few over the years along these lines.

What an fabulous atmosphere !!!! Again another master peace. The light and the colours are just amazing. Can I ask you ? How big are the sheets of paper you work on? These are great images of your family . Better then photo’s to look back on later. Don’t you think. Cheers Esther

  • You are right Esther regarding the family aspect. I regret parting with some of my earlier work now! I buy the biggest sheets of Canson paper, which would be somewhere around 80 × 60 cm or maybe a bit more, and I know the Colourfix I use is 70 × 50cm. From memory I think this was a half sheet of Canson. I usually stick to doing full sheet or half sheet sizes which makes life easier for my framer. He knows what size I need, and he makes frames in bulk for me so it works out cheaper.

    Wow, Lynda!

Yet another beautiful example of your amazing ability to capture our unique light and tones in a way that makes me want to stand up and belt out Peter Allen’s finest!

  • You HAVE made me laugh Ken! Thanks for a great comment. For the rest of the day I will be belting out “When my baby smiles at me I go to Rio!” Oh no no no – it should be “I still call Australia home”!!!!
