Ironbark Country by Lynda Robinson

Currently unavailable for purchase

Pastel on Colourfix paper – 70cm x 50cm

Thought this might slot into a challenge I saw somewhere today! The property where we live consists mainly of the Ironback species of eucalypt. I did this painting in 2005 and it was sold during my solo exhibition – ‘My Easel and Eye’ – which was held at a local winery. It was a huge success and I sold 75% of my work during the exhibition and the rest sold soon afterwards. The opening rates as one of the highlights of my artistic life!!!

Winner of the ‘Woodlands’ challenge in the Landscape Group – March 2009
Featured in the Painted Nature group – July 2009

I am a pastel artist living in country Victoria, Australia. My subjects vary, ranging from landscapes, portraiture, animal studies, figurative, life drawing, still life and I find the challenge of painting water particularly enjoyable.

Absolutely superb Lynda, wot a sense of depth in this, brilliant use of warm dark colours in contrast with cold lighter colours……………..

this is beautiful Lynda … I love the bush and ironbarks ….. and this is a loving image they deserve … :)

  • They are fabulous trees, and the bark is so intriguing. Lots of little creatures live in those deep crevices! Many thanks for your comment Anna.

this is beautiful Lynda….I bought some Prisma pastel pencils today…thing is they only had coloured pastel paper there in a Pad…dark colours so not sure if I can do a landscape on it ? I assume I need white? anyway this is gorgeous love the way you have the light hitting the ground..just lovely

  • So those Prisma pencils ARE available here! I think they are an American brand. I gotta get me some of them! No you don’t need white paper. Coloured paper will be much better for a landscape. I hope you make a masterpiece and I look forward to seeing the results.

    Beautiful composition

  • Hiya Mike. Thanks for a great comment. The photo of the painting was taken on my old camera so the quality is a bit below standard!!!!
(P.S. – I am hoping to get a chance to start on ‘Robinson Fell’ next week)! Pretty scary thought!

I’m not surprised you sold all your paintings Lynda. You’re becoming well known and are still top pin-up in our Killingworth art club – and you’re a lot better looking than Van Gogh who’s gone out with the rubbish. Lovely piece of work….the painting I mean!

  • Ha Ha Ha Ha Brian!!!! You Killingworth boys are legends! My day is made!!!
