ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED that this portrait was included here 50 Inspirational Examples of Portrait Art – by RedBubble

Con Conning was the first member of the Seymour & District Art Society to be made a Life Member. Originally from New Zealand, Con is a superlative artist painting mainly in watercolour. He is a much loved and valued member of the Art Society and the community in general.

I painted this portrait as a tribute to Con for the Art Society 21st Birthday celebrations held last November. It is currently on display at the Old Courthouse Gallery, Seymour, in an exhibition called ‘About Face’ and when that finishes I will make a gift of this painting to Con and his family.
(Con passed away on 19th April 2011)

OMGosh, this is spectacular, Lynda!!! how very fortunate for Mr. Conning and his family to have this amazing portrait!

  • Thank you very much Cathy. The colours haven’t reproduced as well as I would have liked, but they are reasonably close to the original. He is SUCH a lovely person. You would love him too!

A gorgeous pastel portrait Lynda! The handling of the shirt is a great contrast to the high detail in the face. You’ve captured the lighting and expression so well.

  • Thank you Alice. I value your comment very much. I did try to ‘loosen’ up a bit in the shirt area, and the lighting was just how I wanted it, so you are very observant!

A beautiful portrait of a wonderful man! A great likeness Lynda!

  • Thank you my very good friend! No one would know whether the likeness was good or not unless someone else told ‘em, so I’m glad you said that Sandra.
