Pastel on paper (Canson) 70cm x 50cm
Featured in the ‘Realist Paintings About Water’ group – January 2009
Sunday Creek runs close to my home, and Ashes Bridge is a ford that runs across the creek. I was intrigued with the ripples and the colours in the water and the contrast with the dry rushes in the background. The large eucalypt red gum on the left fell over in a storm soon after I finished this painting. I really miss seeing that lovely tree!
This work won a major award in an exhibition entitled ‘Art from the Heart of the Goulburn’ during 2005, and now forms part of The Upper Goulburn Art Collection.
