Medium – Pastel on Board

High Camp is an area that I often visit between Lancefield and Seymour, Victoria, Australia. The hills in the distance are the Tallarook Ranges. I hoped to convey a feeling of huge distance! This is a quite a large pastel painting – approximately 4ft x 3ft.

Fantastic Lynda, love it to bits, i used to think the same about pastels but somehow i made too much of a mess in the house but i seem to do that with most things LOL

I know this area you have such a way of bringing out every detail and yet merging it into one gorgeous vision!
Perhaps the poplars were meant to be there? I like them; they help to define the idea of vastness.
    Gorgeous! ☼

I love this work… reminds me of the area between Singleton & Scone NSW, country I know well and love even more.

  • Thank you so much Rosie. It means such a lot to me.

Are you a member of the ‘Pastel Society’? If not, you should be. Such outstanding work! :)

  • No I’m not! Are you? How do ya going about joining? I am a member of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists, and I have really GOOD intentions of getting my work down there more often this year! Famous last words!

No, I’m not a member of anything. I live approx 2 hours from Melb and find it hard to get the time to travel. Yeah, I know, probably a lame excuse. Google ‘pastel society au’ and it comes up with a heap of links :)

  • Thanks Heidi. I agree, it is a nuisance going into the city and once I am there I can’t wait to get home!

This must be truly stunning at 5ftx4ft
    unfortunately I only have a 15" monitor

  • t took me awhile to finish it Mike!!! It was the main centrepiece of a solo exhibition I had about 4 years ago (called My Easel and Eye). The whole exhibition was a huge success and I was amazed at the number of people who attended the opening! It was quite overwhelming! The exhibition was open for a month and this painting didn’t sell, but about a month after a chap rang me up and bought it. (I just discovered I put this in the wrong box, so I have corrected my mistake – this is an old response Mike and you wouldn’t have received it!)
