The beautiful Goulburn River is one of my favourite subjects, and a constant source of inspiration. I will never tire of painting it with my pastels. This is an area where it winds it’s way through the beautiful Trawool Valley, near Seymour, Victoria, Australia.

And tranquil it is, oh! I just love the way you manipulate those violets, greens, and ochres. Well done Linda, another lovely piece :)

  • Thank you for this beautiful comment Eddy. I only just finished this one this afternoon, so I may still find a few areas to fiddle with!!!! Green is such a DIFFICULT colour isn’t it?

Very, it can make or break your painting, but I think you handled this one just right :)

  • Thanks heaps my friend. I always throw in a few swipes of red which seems to help a lot!

You always bring out the best in landscapes Lynda, and this is no different. Though the setting was no doubt appealing, it looks like paradise courtesy of your skill…a definite Impeccable Fave. XO, ♥Ron♥

  • Thank you for the IF Ron! This area of the Goulburn is extremely beautiful with a potential painting in every direction.

saw bits of Southern rivers recently , Murrumbidgee , maybe Goulburn LOL must check on where I have been !! so differnet to ours here in the North. I used to hate painting green, but no-one else seemed to notice ,had a lot of comments [not here] on my good green! ?? I use differnent brands too helps. Lovely to see more of your works. ps I get bored doing the same thing , admire you for being able to not get bored.

  • Hi Gini. Lovely to hear from you and to get a wonderful, chirpy comment. (This is the area I took Greg too for our plein aire painting day). I have been really busy lately and not so much time for the computer, but things are returning to normal now. Babysitting at the moment though – school holidays!

gorgeous lynda, your autumn afternoon is looking so peaceful, your water gets betterer and betterer. Just looking down your comments and i see that you love working with green too…. not…. its surprising how little green there is in this one i suppose, i must try the yellow tones a little more. i cant do a thing with green, i wonder why that is, i know we are not alone :)) x

  • Ha Ha! Lovely to hear from you Ms. Riddy. I don’t know what it is about green, but Kermit the Frog was right – it’s not easy! Hope you are keeping well lovey.

Lynda, I look forward to all of your Trawool pieces. The water in this piece is just wonderful. I love these beautiful shaded areas, contrasted with the green reflection of the sunlit trees. Types of bodies of water have unique properties, and you have most definitely painted a full-bodied river. Gorgeous light and balance.

  • What a wonderful comment! Thank you so much Frannie. The beautiful Goulburn River is the main ‘artery’ running water through the central area of Victoria and right through to the Murray River in New South Wales, then onto South Australia. It has so many beautiful aspects, so there is never a shortage of inspiration for me.
