Trees at Dysart

Pastel on Colourfix paper (burgundy) 70cm x 50cm

Late afternoon shadows mingling with a multitude of warm colours among the trees was what drew my attention to this scene. Dysart is an area close to Seymour and beyond those trees lies the Goulburn River.

When I bring this up, I’m just simply in awe. It’s actually hard for me to effectively comment on your work because it’s so good. I feel like telling you that I think it gorgeous, just doesn’t really define how I really feel after viewing it. You are so very talented.

You know Lynda if you had been born 100 years ago you would have been the Star in the Heidelberg School and they all would have thought twice about Oil Painting!
☼ Stunning my friend Stunning! ☼
    Chookas! ♥

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Thank you so much for that totally OTT comment my good friend LOL!!!! Some days I feel as if I WAS born 100 years ago!!!! I tend to agree a bit about the oil painting!! – Pastel is a very underrated medium and even at exhibitions it is usually the oils and the watercolours that get the attention. Maybe things are beginning to change and pastels are becoming more acceptable, especially to the general public.

But could you imagine the Victorian Era British Art world believing this to be a true to life landscape? They’d have laughed you out of the country! Trees have green leaves and brown trunks with Green grass! Not White and Purple and yellow or indigo and hardly a skerick of green to be seen!
And yet it is our Bush come to life neath your crayon!
Humble Pie would have been the order of the month had they came out to see for themselves!
    Just Simply Brilliant lady!
    Chookas! ♥

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Oh great comment Alyssa! I couldn’t agree with you more about the lack of what are normally considered ‘landscape’ colours in the Australian bush! Our landscape is full of interesting colour which is not always totally obvious at first glance!!!
