Naranna Springs - Flinders Ranges
Pastel on Colourfix paper – 70cm x 50cm
I did this pastel painting following a trip to the Flinders Ranges a few years ago. This had all the elements I love – water, a nice mix of warm and cool colours and a challenge (i.e. getting the ‘look’ of shallow water)!!
Naranna Springs - Flinders Ranges belongs to the following groups:
* Painted Nature *, Australia! You're Standing In it...., Contemporary Pastel Painters (2 per day), First Things, Friends of RedBubble, Hand Drawn or Painted Art of Happiness or Joy, Imaginative Realism, Landscape Painting, Realist Paintings About Water and Realist Traditional Art Available for sale asGreeting Cards

Noelene Davies
Beautifully painted and yes you achieved what you set out to do and that is to get the ‘look’ of shallow water. I just adore the native colours. I wonder if it still looks like this now.
Lynda Robinson replied
Thanks Noelene. I also wonder if it looks like this now! Would love to get back there one of these days – it is a fantastic area to paint.
Irene Burdell
Well you certainly did get the look , it is beautiful .
Water is something I cannot master . x

Thank you for a great comment Irene. Ginnymac thinks I should give you some water lessons, so do you want to fly over here, or shall I fly over there???

I am having a good chuckle here Irene! I will pick you up at Tullamarine Airport – what time? Only problem is, we don’t have very much water around here at the moment – but I’m sure we can find some! Perhaps it would be better if I came over and we made a trip to Cardiff!!!!!!
Simon Aberle
Beautiful Lynda! I’m especially loving the reflection in the water, and the colours in the trees!
Lynda Robinson replied
Thanks Sime. It’s a fairly ‘busy’ painting in retrospect. I think I would do it a bit differently now, but I was very happy with the watery bit.
Irene Burdell
That would be fun if I liked cricket but to tell the truth , I am probably committing the worst sin by saying this , but…....... here goes I can’t stand the game lol

Amongst everything else, you are expert at wet water (the best kind). I guess that’s really painting in three dimensions; refections, surface and river bottom. Great stuff Lynda.
Lynda Robinson replied
Another really magical comment from you Mr. T!!!! At the end of the day I really think this painting is a bit too ‘busy’ but the watery bit worked out well.
Pam Hunt-Bromf...
Wonderful work Lynda…especially love how you captured the reflections in the water…
Lynda Robinson replied
Thanks heaps Pam.
bandicoot9753
Your paintings are just wonderful. I will shortly be going to the area to do some biological surveys and your paintings have helped me prepare, as well as made me to look forward in eager anticipation. You paint with such accuracy (we could identify the trees) yet at the same timecreate the whole atmosphere wonderfully, and I just love the interplay of colors
Lynda Robinson replied
Well thank you so much Bandicoot person! What a fantastic comment. I think I would like to have your job (if I knew how) doing biological surveys! You must get to see some wonderful areas of our lovely country.
