Autumn at Trawool

Lynda Robinson

Autumn at Trawool

Pastel on Colourfix sanded paper (burgundy).

Autumn in Australia is a beautiful season! The intense heat has diminished from the sun and beautiful days are followed by cool nights. Our weather over Easter has been exactly as depicted in this painting. I painted this last year and sold it at an art show soon afterwards. Trawool is an extremely scenic area only a few kilometres from my home.

Featured in the Rural Around the Globe group – April 2009
Winner of ‘Changing Seasons’ challenge in the ‘Real’ Life Art group – April 2009

Beautiful…brilliant colour.I think this is a “newie” ...don’t think I have seen it before!

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Maybe you didn’t see it Sandra, but it is not a “newie”. Sold it at ‘TARTS’ Tallarook Art Show last year.

A splendid painting Lynda. I love landscapes…and especially painted ones.

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Many thanks Ron. I really appreciate your interest in my work. Your camera would LOVE this area of Northern Victoria!!!!

  • adgray

    adgray

    OH I LOVE THIS
but then I love all your work lol
I especially like the blue shadows!
and do I know this? would it be the private road through the valley north of the Golburn & the end of the Tallarook state park to my fave camp spot? – Ah to go back there!

Gorgeous again as always! BRAVO !!
    Chookas! X♥X

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Thought you would recognise the area Alyssa!!! It is a side road off the back road to Tallarook, but I can’t remember the name of it!!! There are only a couple of properties along it and it is a dirt road that comes to a dead end.

  • adgray

    adgray

    YES !!!!!!!!
and one of the last properties is a gorgeous big old white home from the 1800s [poss early1900s] – is that a touch of it in your painting?
to the left of this spot you are standing viewing it from is a property up in the trees with loads of “No Shooting!” signs around
but at that dead end is a camp ground!!!!!! about 8 acres along the river!
and the valley runs east west so the days are as long as anywhere yet you are surrounded by hills!
    I knew I knew it!!!!
Woooohooooooooooo!!! I feel so excited now!!! lol
Now when can I get up there …..... uuuuummmmmm…........... lol
Chookas you wonderful lady you! X♥X
& thank you for this blast of memory!! It’s made my day !!! :O)

  • Lynda Robinson replied

You make me smile Alyssa! I think the home you are referring to is the Miller farm – that is a bit further up the road, so no, that isn’t it in this painting.

Living in this country makes us take its beauty for granted. Glad you capture it so well. Your art makes me want to go for a drive, just to see some of it. Well done.

  • Lynda Robinson replied

What a great comment Edzie! Thank you very much. Yes, I think I have to agree that we DO take the beauty of our country for granted, so get in the car and head off!

  • Linda Ridpath

    Linda Ridpath

beautiful again lynda, i am always amazed when i look closely at how much pink, lilac, purples you use…. I am forgetting i think how the trees in australia are coloured with so many bluish hues. lovely xxxx

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Thanks Linda – I try to add some warm tones to the cool areas and vice versa, and I do seem to sometimes ‘see’ colours in landscapes that maybe other people don’t! Maybe I’m just weird!!!!

Oh, Oh, magnificent. I’ll bet you get tons of commissions, don’t you. My goodness this is a beautiful scene Lyndy-Lou! Looks like either early morning or late afternoon with the shadowing placed as it is. The blues…...that’s your trump card, I think. You know just where to place the blue hues to really make your paintings jump out at’cha.

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Thanks heaps Kate. It was late afternoon.

You always come up with the goodies Lynda. I don’t know which blue you use for shadows but they bold and work their magic. You, as always, did a great job with this landscape and the sky is excellent.

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Such a fantastic comment coming from someone whose work I greatly admire! I have a few pastels which are called ‘cobalt’ but they are all different hues! One of my favourites is a very soft Schminke brand, and I use it quite a lot in landscapes. I also have a small piece left of a ‘powder blue’ tone, but do you think I can remember what ruddy brand it is?!!!! I haven’t been able to find another one that I like as much. I often add a swish of pink or red to my blues too.
