'Golden Shores' - (Apollo Bay)

'Golden Shores' - (Apollo Bay)

Pastel on Colourfix paper (burgundy) – 50cm x 35cm

Another one straight from my easel to RedBubble. I’m not sure if it is quite finished yet! My husband thinks I should add some people (there are two in the far distance). I thought people would make it too ‘busy’ so I’m thinking about some gulls. This is the way it was while we were there – practically deserted.

My son asked me to do a beach scene as a gift for his ‘Best Man’ (who loves the beach and the Great Ocean Road area). The wedding is on the 28th March so I have been stressing about getting it finished in time. I am well ahead!

    “Golden Shore!”

Oh to walk these golden sands
    along this golden shore
Feel the wealth of the golden land
and the knowledge of much more
enhanced by the blue of the sea
and the azure of the sky above
No wonder we’re together you and me
and we feel nothing but love!

A scene like this draws forth verse so very easily!
    Thank you! ♥

PS Deserted is so much more special than busy with bodies everywhere!
The scene is gorgeous now so don’t distract too much with bird life
    Just my 2 cents worth!

fabulous beach scene Lynda….I like it with no people so it does not distract you from the beautiful scenery….I love the way you have added hints of colours in the clouds and shadows in the sand bank and water just perfect!

AWWWWWWW! Lynda it is so lovely I love Apollo bay my watercolour of the fishing boat “seasons close” I painted there, Ah memories, Fishing painting and lazing on the beach eating Crayfish till I felt almost sick, you Artist, you capture the feel and I can almost smell the salty air.

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Fanks Ken! Yep, it is a lovely area. We stay at Marengo. Have been going there for years. It is becoming more commercialised now, but I guess that’s progress. The Crays are phenomenal!!! We HAD to have one while we were there.

  • AnitaInverarity

    AnitaInverarity

Gorgeous. That sand is AMAZING !! xxxxxx

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Thanks heaps Anita. The sand was fun to do! Just blobs of a few different colours, a smudge here, a swish there, and then add the lighter edges to the blobs – a squiggle here, and another smudge there – and you have SAND!

  • Linda Ridpath

    Linda Ridpath

Wow Lynda, are you making time….. i am amazed at the quality and quantity of work you produce…. At the moment, i am so busy so my easel is neglected somewhat. well done you xxx

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Stop making me laugh Ms Ridpath! I have neglected my easel for the past few weeks too, so I have had a “full on” arting weekend, and finished this one off after starting it while I was at the coast. Now I have to go back to work in the real world tomorrow! Groan!!!!

  • Kate Eller

    Kate Eller

Gorgeous piece Lynda. I knew you would come up with a winner. You have so many beautiful places in Australia…..and your paintings are teaching me a lot about your country. The colors are just unbelievable. I don’t think you need to add a thing.

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Thank you for another lovely comment yimusjane. The colours have come up a bit different from the original painting. They are more ‘subdued’ in the painting and it does look better than in the photo.

    Douglas Hunt

both the quality and quantity of your work amazes me. This is another excellent rendition; I especially love the foreground grass, sand, and shadow!

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Thank you so much Doug. What a lovely thing to say! The grass was the hardest part! I had trouble making it convincing! The sand was relatively easy.

  • ANNETTE HAGGER

    ANNETTE HAGGER

Oh please dont add people !!!! I hate people and wildlife in paintings !! lol…....this is perfect just as it is Lyn…excellent work…looks a beautiful peaceful place to be…..anna : )

  • Lynda Robinson replied

O.K. – I am NOT going to add any people. It is staying as it is – might just smudge the clouds a bit more though. I emailed it to my son and he is VERY VERY VERY happy, which is the main thing!

  • ANNETTE HAGGER

    ANNETTE HAGGER

by the way, I iesp. love the foreground, that corner with the blues, lilacs is beautfiul work Luyn..and very creative…..anna : )

  • Lynda Robinson replied

That corner was the most fun. I quite enjoyed the hills too, although I had them mostly finished while I was ‘on site’.

  • Brian Towers

    Brian Towers

Without any signiture or clues, I’m pretty sure I can recognise your work Lynda – they all show that special brilliance. Wonderful!

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Oh thank you Brian! I think that is wonderful news! What a great comment (once again).

  • GEORGE SANDERSON

    GEORGE SANDERSON

    Superb work as usual, Lynda
The shadows over the hills and the footsteps in the sand are brilliant, as brian says, you dont need to sign your work for me to know who painted it !!!

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Again that is excellent news and a great comment George. I am really pleased my work has become so recognisable

  • Randy Sprout

    Randy Sprout

Your choice of the colors in those foot hills sets you work apart from the usual Kodachrome view and I love how you rendered the footsteps in the foreground. Maybe it’s a subliminal message, like “us two out to see the world”? Good job!

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Thank you for a fantastic comment Randy. I had the hills looking a bit too bright at one stage so I scumbled some blue tones into them, which made them recede.

  • Orla Cahill

    Orla Cahill

Great work Lynda. Gorgeous colours. :)

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Thank you so much Orla. As mentioned above, the colours appear brighter than they do in the original for some reason. The paintings is a bit more subdued and it looks better that this photo!

Beautiful work as always Lynda…I feel as if I can walk right into the picture…I love it the way it is, as a viewer can imagine themselves in it much more than if there were people there…

  • thepaintedsoul

While I love the pastel immensely Lynda, I would think seriously about ignoring your hubbie’s suggestion. He’s your link to unburned meals and casual dining. No towering infernos with him at the grill. LOL!

Really, it is a fine pastel. the best man should be thrilled. There’s a wonderful unity in the way you’ve sprinkled those colors about your picture plane. Makes me LONG for the beach. Great job!

  • Lynda Robinson replied

Thanks for the lovely comment Michael. I apologise for the delay in reply but I only just found it! Yep – the ‘Best Man’ was extremely happy and we had a great wedding day.

A fantastic stretch of deserted beach here, Lynda. Just like Northumberland coast, but without needing your thermal drawers and foil hypothermia sheets!
