Summer Day - Hughes Creek at Tarcombe

Pastel on sanded paper (Colourfix ‘terra cotta’ – Full Sheet 70 cm x 50 cm)

Another in the series of paintings I completed last year after spending a few days camping in the Tarcombe area of Hughes Creek, Victoria, Australia. This is an extremely remote location only accessible by 4 wheel drive vehicle. I am very fortunate that I know the owners of this land and I intend to return again at the end of this summer.

    Fantastic comment Mick! You would love this place. It is one of the most magnificent, secluded,, painterly areas of Northern Vic. The water in Hughes Creek is always warm and clear, and the bottom of the creek is sandy. Aren’t we just the luckiest people to live in such a beautiful country???

    Another superb pastel, Lynda! The predominantly red light, conveys, heat and dryness of that parched world. The rippling sky blue reflection n the precious water, and the smooth rocks, are especially realistic.

    It is a beautiful stream Diko, and it always has water in it (from underground springs in the hills) and the water is always warm! It’s a little bit of paradise really!!! There is a ‘painting’ in every direction you look.
