Artist's Description

Passer domesticus
The common house sparrow is found almost everywhere in Canada and the United States. The male is more distinctly marked and has that unusual gray cap not often seen in other species. These birds are full of energy and busy busy busy. They tend to be mainly vegetarian.
5 1/2 – 6 1/4 inches, Female and young are plainer with streaked back,dull eyeline and light brown underside. Voice is a mixture of twitter and chirps.
