Hairy Woodpecker
At 1st I thought this was a downy but after checking my bird books, he’s too big. The hairy is 9 inches with a longer beak and also has the high shrill call which this one had for sure ! He found some grubs in my front tree very appealing.

What a great detailed image of this woodpecker in typical pose on that highly textured tree Lynda, I must admit I haven’t heard of a hairy woodpecker before and that makes it all the more interesting for me, well done indeed,
Regards, Rod.
Lynda McDonald replied
ty Rod, they look identical to the downy but it is tiny compared to the hairy
