The Ghost of the Darkness

Foggy swamp and distant roar
Must be the sound of a mighty boar
Grab your bow and call your dogs
Dart through the bush jumping rocks and logs

A black mass in the distance up ahead
A 120kg fella, he’s been well fed
The boar looks at the dog and their gazes meet
Slowly dog approaches, the boar stomps his feet

The hunter gets near and draws his bow
But the boar takes off, the hunter’s too slow
The dog runs off after as the hunter yells
‘Tart, On my signal unleash hell!’

The dog disappears and grunts fill the air
She latches on his ear, though the odds aint fair
Hunter runs through the scrub and sees his arse
Wheelbarrow’s him over and sticks him fast

A mighty grunt and the blood starts to flow
But bloody Tart will not let go
A few final grunts and the boar does die
And the great white hunter’s on the biggest high

An awesome trophee his tusks will make
The ‘Ghost of the Darkness’ no longer awake
The swamp goes quiet as the two depart
But the boars will remember old Bails and Tart
