So I’m in Sydney last Week picking up family from the airport … the incoming flight was delayed by two and a half hours … it’s dusk and I’m driving about looking for somewhere to get something to eat … I finally wind up in Bronte, park and go for a walk … go round a corner and realise I’m at Waverley Cemetery … this place is fantastic and I’ve been meaning to go back for years … I go back to the car and grab the tripod and go in just after sundown.
This is a minute long exposure (well OK 57 seconds) with a single SB-800 burst at 1/8th power right at the end. You can see the star trails from just a minute. The clouds were low and moving quite quickly. This isn’t an HDR but a single frame with some work done on th curves and contrast to bring out the subtleties of the marble.
I love this statue perched high on a gravestone … I love the way it’s so beautifully sculpted to create the impression the angel is in fact weightless … her foot is perhaps my favourite bit :-)
