Hi, the Royal Canberra Show is held every year to celebrate and showcase the very best that the region has to offer. I have been entering photographs into the Canberra Show Art Prize for the past three years. There are four classes in which to enter photographs;
-Open -Landscape/Places -People & Portraits; and -Black & White
I always try to enter a photo into each class and I have picked up several 1st places over the years in various classes. This year though something quite remarkable happened: I won every class! I still have not quite gotten my head around quite what this means but really it’s an excellent result!
You see the entries by following the link to the Lushpup Blog if you wanna take a look :-)
“Wire, hair, threads, gadgetry: Dunn’s camera captures in exquisite detail the quirky strangeness that weaves its way through the prints and drawings of Nicci Haynes. What began as a conventional art documenting project evolved into this exhibition, interconnecting the work of artist and photographer.”
Well that’s what the media release says so it must be true!
Just a quick note to invite you to the opening of a new show I’m doing with printmaker Nicci Haynes at M16 Artspace in Griffith (the suburb not the town). The result of a collaborative documentary process, I am exhibiting nine new works illustrating my photographic interpretation of Nicci’s art.
The images have been printed by Stephen Best of Macquarie Editions and look fantastic. The show runs from 6-…
In the latest edition(#43) of frankie magazine (Fashion, Art, Design, Photography, Music). An article on musician Fred Smith written by Jenna Hand with my picture accompanying. The magazine has a circulation of 210,000. I know it’s not a big thing for some of you but it brings a smile to my dial and I felt I had to share. Image is a scanned copy of the article.
Hiya, a quick journal note to my watchlist and interested parties :-)
I’m alive and taking pictures. I have been very busy working on an exciting new field of photography for me … art documentation. I have been working closely with a number of artists to document examples of their work for submission into shows, books and for their own records.
Basically my philosophy is to work with the artist to create images which inspire someone seeing the image to want to see the original artwork. Art from Art essentially.
So far it’s going swimmingly and I now have an enormous mound of potential artworks to use for my own artistic ends. I will begin posting examples soon.
I have been checking in periodically to spy on your beautiful works and to maintain my group ‘Out of the B…
The Royal Canberra Show is held every year. As part of it’s Art section it hosts a photographic competition. I entered four pictures this year and I found out today that I scored two blue ribbons and a third place!
“…the pencil sharpener…” was awarded first place in the Open Class
“…watermelon…” was awarded first place in the People/Portrait Class
“…click go the shears…” was awarded third place in the Black & White Class
It made my day, which was fairly ordinary up until then, it really did :-)
