I’ve been an artist for many years, working from my studio in Cardiff producing watercolour, pastel and pencil work. I sell my paintings through galleries in the UK, particularly “Oriel Makers” in Cardiff, which I and a small group of artists have run since 1991.
My Degree was in Textile Design and texture continues to be important in my painting. I often start my watercolours with a loose wash of paint and delight in the accidental flourishes this creates, developing these marks instinctively.
I take great inspiration from wild flowers and gardens as well as the beautiful landscapes around me in Wales.
Completing a course in Garden Design a few years ago has added another dimension to my work. The other big influence is the written word, which has encouraged me to incorporate calligraphy into some of my paintings.
I am happy to work to commission and have created bespoke paintings of Family Trees, homes and gardens amongst other subjects.
