Powerful image, Mar. I was one of those women once. (Stayed in a shelter once with the kiddies after a terribly abusive marriage.) I can relate to this!
Thank you Birg, and for being so candid. The more survivors that speak out the more others come to realise just how widespread and impacting this societal issue of violence really is.

A powerful image Marion.
So powerful in fact Kathy it renders some people, (that normally might comment), completely speechless ;)Thank you for adding your voice.
Superb shot Marion, very emotive indeed. I grew up in not so nice circumstance so this is close to home.
So many of us isn’t there Craig? Thanks so much for speaking out, you are a voice for so many nameless & voiceless children that find themselves in such circumstances through no fault of their own.
What a great candid…very moving
Thank you Sharon, I hope, if visible enough, the real thing moves enough people in power into action. DV & Women’s service hold a rally like this on the steps of Parliment House everytime a woman or child dies as a result of domestic violence in Australia, I’ve lost count of the amount I’ve attended in the last 12 months. :(
stunning, just so moving, well done, dawnx
Sincerely thank you Dawn, a great thing to have your voice and support here :)
A very moving and powerful image Marion – and captures the essence of this pain. The cause merits far more attention than a moment’s silence but your image will contribute so much to the attention it really does deserve!
Thank you my friend, I agree completely with your sentiments. Unfortunately so many still see DV as just a feminist issue, rather than a much broader societal one. The effects of DV are far reaching and long lasting, & not just for the individuals and families involved. Its impact on the wider community, the health care system and the economy are huge. It’s in everyone’s interest to take an active role in addressing this issue from the ground up.
This is AWESOME and as Lianne said merits much much more than a minutes silence……Thank you for this….Hugs….XXX
Thank you Pagly, I couldn’t agree with you more.I rarely have the opportunity now days to advocate for this issue online anymore, but you can be sure I still do so rather fervently in real life, through my work in the DV service and on a personal level. :)
Very powerful Marion….so good you’re here to make help us remember! xo
Every now & then I feel the need to post a reminder here Wendi, fighting to get this this issue out there is such a big part of my real life that I sometimes just need a break from it somewhere…but that doesn’t mean RB is ever going to be completely exempt. :)Thank you so much my dear friend, for adding your voice & support to something that means a great deal to me.
Marion have been hunting all over for this……….it struck a chord with me when i first saw it years ago….but feel its maybe needs to be seen again I had it framed on the wall of my practice…many men said they hadn’t thought of it that way…?
Woman was taken out of man; not out of his head to top him, nor out of his feet to be trampled underfoot; but out of his side to be equal to him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be loved”
Very fitting Pagly as it speaks loudly of the equity of our existance as women & men, & not about power & control which is the main motivation behind domestic violence & abuse.
A powerful visual statement! Great composiiton, the red really emphasizes the symbolism of blood and stands out in contrast!
I thank you very much for sharing your thoughts on this image Joanne, very insightful. I agree, the red in the banner is definitely very symbolic of the issue here.
