I consider myself photographer first, and artist second. For me they are not one and the same, as the artist only emerges from my first passion, that of photography.

Born in Germany, I have resided in Adelaide, South Australia since the age of two. I had the fortune & opportunity, in my early years, to learn the basics of both black & white film photography and darkroom technique, and discovered a deep fascination for both. Even in those very early days I found photography to be an exciting and intriguing pursuit, one that was, for me, all about harnessing the elusive qualities of light, and the thrill of encapsulating those fleeting and immeasurable moments.

Pursuing my passion eluded me in those earlier years, but I have since rekindled my love affair with photography, due, in part, to the advent of the digital medium, but mostly due to those early lures and fascinations having never quite left me, and I continue to find this medium both incredibly challenging & immensely rewarding.

I consider my work to be eclectic in nature, not confining itself to any one particular style. It is my hope that my work, and creative vision, strives to maintain a broad spectrum of themes and genres, ranging from the purely decorative to the emotional transporting, and not only highlights natures beauty but also the dramatic and evocative elements found therein.

Through the eye of the lens I attempt to reach beyond the tangible, and continually strive to delve into the depths and realms of a limitless imagination

My thanks to the artists and writers here at RB whose work constantly provokes, challenges, intellectually stimulates, moves, and inspires. When I view art I love to be made to think about someone else’s take on the world, to be made to step outside of my own comfort zone and to explore & expand my own horizons. I may choose most often not to make bold statements with my own art, but very much appreciate the fact that others can & do. In fact, it is this freedom of expression that drives my love of the arts and of what I do.

I hope you find it as uplifting to view as I do creating it.

Writing

Seasons of the Heart

Spring / Of supple and tender budding, / New beginnings, cautious gentle caress / Season of hope Summer / Of sunlight and fervent joy, / Warm salty breezes, urgent with love / Season of fulfilm…

Gone and Forgotten

Death , bereavement, open house, lifetime scattered.

Behind closed doors... 6 word story

Voices raised, fist raised, love erased.
